“Spirituality is the tuning of the inner person to the great mysteries and secrets around us.”
Spiritual direction, also called spiritual friendship or spiritual companioning, is a relationship between a trained spiritual director and a person seeking to be attentive to the spiritual. The regular sessions (usually monthly) focus on noticing the Presence/Source of Life in their daily lives. Sharing and discussions might also address spiritual questions, readings, prayer. It provides an opportunity to focus on and enter into conversation about spiritual matters.
The session, which is usually about an hour, is a prayerful time when both listen for the Spirit. It is not counseling or therapy.
